First Person on Scene The Institute of Health Care Development (IHCD) is the Awarding Body (via Edexcel) for NHS Ambulance Services throughout the United Kingdom. The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh maintains standards in pre-hospital medical care for doctors, emergency service personnel and nurses. Students attending this course should previously have successfully completed the FPOS Basic Course. The First Person on Scene (Intermediate) course is of four days duration and consists of: Basic Life Support (Adult and Child) Choking Recovery Position Trauma / Haemorrhage Shock Anaphylactic Shock Oxygen Therapy Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Assisting the Paramedic Medical Conditions and emergencies such as: Heart Conditions Stroke/CVA Epilepsy Asthma Diabetes
